What is Microdermabrasion Treatment

Image
What Is Microdermabrasion Treatment Your skin is exposed to the environmental elements every day. Over the years, the sun’s rays, pollution, and other damaging agents can take a toll on your skin. Microdermabrasion treatment can help reduce or eliminate the wrinkles and fine lines, “crow’s feet,” age spots, light acne scars, and undesired pigmentation that may appear on the skin over time. In general, good candidates are adults who are in good physical health, with realistic expectations for the outcome of their Skin Treatment. People who do not have enough available time to undergo more invasive skin resurfacing treatments such as dermabrasion, laser skin resurfacing, or heavy chemical peels may also be good candidates for microdermabrasion. Microdermabrasion is a non-chemical, non-invasive procedure that uses a spray of microcrystals to remove the outermost layer of dry, dead skin cells and reveal fresh, younger, and healthier-looking skin. Microdermabrasion also encourages th...

Comparing "Our" Skin to Theirs

Comparing “Our” Skin to Theirs By Mari Bozozo Have you ever found yourself randomly gawking at someone for no other reason than to admire (well, more like envy) their perfection personified better known as clear and smooth skin? I know that I have. I would also ask myself, “Why were they blessed with the good skin gene, and I have not? It’s just not fair!” As with a variety of other plights that we all have and continue to endure, being stricken with a chronic skin problem such as acne makes life grossly unfair, also. You all may very well know, and probably from firsthand experience to boot, acne not only impacts an individual physically, but it also packs a pretty mean punch mentally, emotionally, and psychologically. Being in an almost constant state of unhappiness and self-consciousness, never being able to fully relax in the presence of others, and overall letting one’s appearance dictate just how he/she would live life is what acne has done to sufferers by the masses, ...

Acne Scars & Beyond Part 2

Acne Scars & Beyond the Physical Damage that it Causes -Part 2 By Mari Bozozo Fast forward to my getting out into the real world after graduation, in pursuit of the career and life that I had been preparing so long for. It was at this time that I had noticed what all of that acne in college had done to my skin. My eyes were not ready for this horrid sight: On my left cheek, approximately the size of a fifty cent piece were only what I could describe as moonlike craters. Later, I learned the proper name for it, ice-pick scars. In my mind, I’d become disfigured. To compensate for my disfigurement, I began to strategically position the left side of my face away from others, by turning subtly to the right. It didn’t matter what setting I’d been in. At work, at social gatherings, even at home amongst family, I was not going to bare my skin to the world suffering further humiliation. I kept up this charade for an indefinite amount of time. Then one day it happen...

Acne Scars & Beyond Part 1

Acne Scars & Beyond the Physical Damage that it Causes -Part 1 By Mari Bozozo Over the course of my lifetime, I’ve applied many invaluable lessons to my life by way of the following sayings: “It’s better to have loved and lost, rather than not to have loved at all.” “Look both ways before crossing the street.” “Don’t talk with your mouth full.” And last but certainly not least, “If you are insufferable with acne scars, then avoid mirrors at all costs, especially of the magnifying persuasion, as if your life depended on it. As someone who has grappled with acneic skin for practically half of her life, it is not a far stretch of the imagination to believe that I’ve incurred scarring from it, as well. In my estimation, this is where the struggle really begins. My hate and more hate relationship with acne scars took place very shortly after I graduated from college. While I was still a student, especially during my first year, there was a huge margin for adjustment. Shortly...

Be Authentic, If Not For You, For God Sake

By Audrey Being remarkable is to be and act in a way that it’s worth people to talk about, to make a remark about. Being the same as everyone else, copying others, might get some people’s attention for a while but just for a while, it won’t last. Being authentic is misunderstood. Being authentic doesn’t mean a magical truth about who you are deep down, because deep down if we strip away our culture, we would spend all day naked, hunting and pooping in the jungle, that is who we are authentically. Everything else is just a story that we put on, a show to get people to like us and trust us. You probably wore clothes today even though you didn’t necessarily want to or you went to work and took your kids to school even if you didn’t feel like it. So for me, after a bit of research came to realize that, what authentic means is being consistent, what it means is even if you are not in the room am I acting the way I say I act, even if I don’t think you are listening, I am talking...

Stress and Acne

Stress and Acne By Mari Bozozo I’ll never forget that day that I was in the checkout line at a local discount retailer over a decade ago. The cashier, although seemingly pleasant, fell very short where boundaries and proper etiquette were concerned. Why do I say that you ask? As I loaded my items onto the counter, he pointed to his face and uttered, “You’re breaking out.” Like the thought never crossed my mind. Like I didn’t obsess over my appearance for umpteen times during a given day. Like I needed a total stranger to point out the all too obvious to me, in front of other strangers, to boot! Aside from feeling grossly offended, appalled, mortified, and ashamed, I was flabbergasted to think that some random person, a professional at that, would have the proverbial balls to say that to me. While I can’t recall what my exact rebuttal was (honestly, what could I rebut, as the evidence was literally all over my jawline) I knew that I’d hit an all-time new low. And stress was unequivoca...

Acne Treatment Facial Process

Acne Treatment Facial Process The results you get from acne facial treatments depends on many different factors. You need to understand you don’t get amazing results, or clear skin, with just one treatment. As with any treatment, getting results from facials takes time and it takes commitment. To get ultimate results, you'll have to commit to a series of acne facials and continue with monthly or by-monthly facial maintenance. It’s exactly the same if you wanted to lose weight and get in shape or having your teeth cleaned. In either case, It takes time and needs long term commitment. Typically, facials are scheduled once a week or once every other week for at least 10 sessions. But you can't rely on facials alone to get your skin clear. To keep the benefits going, you'll need to be consistent with your acne products and skin care routine at home. The skill of the esthetician performing your treatment also plays a big role in the improvement you see. If your goal ...

Acne Vulgaris

Acne vulgaris is frequently localized to the face and sometimes body affecting appearance and resulting in all sorts of psychosocial impacts including anxiety and depression, social withdrawal, and lack of self-confidence.
